We raise a closed flock - from hatch to USDA processor. This enables us to limit disease pressure. Antibiotics are wildly used in industrial, commercial turkey production, but we feel that this creates an undo societal burden. Hormones are often used commercially, as well, to promote bigger, and ultimately, less healthy birds. This goes against our agricultural ethics.
Happy, healthy birds are pasture raised. This allows them to free graze insects, eat grass, dig roots and stretch their legs and wings! Contrary to mainstream turkey producers, we believe in allowing our birds a bit of freedom.
